Forget about the far corners of the world and experience adventures in Africa. There are so many activities to partake in on the continent, including sightseeing, wildlife view, photography, hiking, climbing and diving. Check out the activities we have put together in some of the top destinations in Africa:

  1. South Africa

Great White Shark cave diving: Gansbaai which is three hours’ drive from Cape Town, South Africa, hosts a cage diving adventure. It hosts the highest population of white sharks than anywhere else in the world. Experience the exceptional and come face to face with a great white shark!

Bungee jumping: One of the largest waterfalls in the world, Victoria Waterfalls sits at the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe. At about $115 (N41, 800) per person, experience a moment of adrenaline-pumping fun by bungee-jumping into thin air at about 360 feet.

Hiking and swimming: Take a 30-minute hike to the National Park from Zambia to Zimbabwe where you can buy a visa on the spot. If you are a daredevil then you can try swimming to the edge of the falls on Livingstone Island at $90 (N32,700).

Rafting in Zambezi: River Zambezi, just below the great Victoria Falls, offers one of the most spectacular rafting experiences one can ever have in the world. It costs $150 (N54, 500) per person.

  1. East Africa

Hike up Mount Kilimanjaro: The highest free-standing mountain in the world, hiking up the mountain takes six to nine days depending on the route you are following. All itineraries, including flights and visa fee, cost about $3000 (N1, 090,000) per person.

Visit Lake Tanganyika: The longest freshwater lake in the world, features islands and diverse wildlife including crocodiles.

  1. North Africa

Visit Aït Benhaddou: This UNESCO world heritage site is four hours’ drive from Marrakesh, Morrocco. It has featured in many Hollywood films including The Gladiator and Game of Thrones. A drive down and a hike around this wonder is must-do for the complete African adventure.

See the Todgha Gorges: Southeast of Morocco is a series of limestone carved gorges. A three-day adventure around these places will cost you about $250 (N91,000) excluding flight and visa.

  1. West Africa

Experience the Afi Mountains: A four-hour drive from Calabar, Nigeria is the Afi wildlife ranch dedicated to the drill monkeys.

Visit Chad’s untamed Tibesti: Regarded as the holy grail of Saharan travel, a visit to Chad’s mighty Tibesti Mountains is the ultimate adventure trip. The pictures hold an allure that is hard to resist.
