Mr Garbe was established and launched in 2013, as a high-end casual wear  label in the United Kingdom. The inspiration behind the debut collection ‘Icons’, came from past and present iconic and famous Nigerians who have helped shape Nigeria to be what it is today. Made to inspire change and influence the current and upcoming African generation, ‘Icons’ is made up of seven designs of seven famous and iconic Nigerians, whom many may have heard of and may be unaware of their impact on Nigeria. The collection includes icons such as Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, Oluwole Soyinka, Chinua Achebe, Ken Saro Wiwa, Chukwuemeka. O. Ojokwu, M.K.O Abiola and Sanni Abacha.

 

The sophomore collection ‘Celebration’ highlighted the progressive and regressive ways of the Nigerian economy by featuring cities and famous areas in Nigeria and their telecommunications code. The collection highlighted areas like Lagos, Bodija, Benin, Onitsha, Kano, Port Harcourt to name drop a few…

Continuing to inspire change and influence within the African generation, Mr Garbe is set to launch the third  ‘Garbe Life’. This collection plays around images and colour. the collages are a juxtaposition on images reflection issues affecting the continent from war, peace, opulence, style and how all of this is mutating the identity of the new African youth. Sticking to the simple yet complex minimalism trade mark, the collection consists of t-shirts and t-dresses for women with urban aesthetics.
