The delicious scent of December is in the air. It is the month everyone you know has a reason to be happy. For some, it is all about family reunion, for some, it is a well-deserved holiday, and for others, it is the harmattan. What’s not to love about December? Regardless of what you think of it, always remember that December comes with a major con: chapped skin.

Besides having a bottle of water at all times, here are five things you should invest in this season.

Lip Balm
Chapped lips are the most annoying thing, especially during the harmattan. Now is not the time to lick or peel the skin off your lips. Lip balm is a useful investment, especially those with sunscreen that prevents sunburn. SPF is a win-win. Be on the lookout for products containing petrolatum, dimethicone, allantoin, camphor, and phenol (you might want to remember these).

Daily Body Moisturizers
This month, you are going to be seeing a lot of white, dry and flaky skin with clogged pores. You don’t want to be a part of this ugly train. While shopping, you should be on the lookout for daily moisturisers that are specially formulated for the season.

Hand Creams and Lotion
You know what they say: chapped hands reveal how you take care of your skin. Many eyes will be darting towards this area. Luckily, there are varieties of moisturising hand creams to choose from. These lotions will ensure that your hands are moisturised properly all through the dry season.

Natural Oils For Your Make Up

We all know make up and the harmattan don’t exactly sit well together. If you still want to slay with your makeup at the owambes, then say hello to avocado and coconut oil. Develop a habit of applying avocado or coconut oil on your face the night before. This will help to keep your skin moisturized. Also, if you use a gentle facial cleanser, smart move.

Foot Cream
Just as your body needs to be moisturized, your feet need attention too. You’d need to buy socks and your classic Vaseline or a thick moisturizer.

Now, you can slay in the harmattan. And who says these things are not affordable?
