Athleisure has evolved into an actual trend and style which is why we’re still hearing about it today. It’s basically about making traditional gym clothes look chic and cool. Below is our ultimate guide to wearing gym clothes even when going to the gym is the last thing on your mind.

1. Add more bling
A lot of athleisure looks involve all black or dark colours, but they don’t have to! It’s always best to go for bright and add more bling to each piece of your look to make it a little more stylish and more memorable.

2. Try buttons
It’s getting warmer out, and a slim button-down shirt is a great go-to look. Show your best-fitting button-down shirts life beyond business casual. They pair well with sweatpants on a breezy day.

3. You can trust black, white, and grey
Sometimes less is more, with three aesthetically pleasing colours; grey, black and white, you don’t need more. When in doubt, go with black, white and grey, it’s a foolproof combination that’s almost impossible to mess up!

4. Embrace the hoodie
The hoodie is a classic comfort-core and although it is not proper for any traditional business engagement, it is worn by many professionals in the creative and the tech field. The hoodie and jeans are the athleisure versions of the t-shirt and jeans outfit that many tech CEOs are known to rock in Silicon Valley.

5. Don’t feel restricted
As with any trend, you can take athleisure outfits as far as you want. If you’re not comfortable wearing leggings daily, incorporate sporty elements into your wardrobe instead. Throw on a varsity jacket over a pair of jeans or wear a killer pair of sneakers with a dress or skirt.

6. Try something new
Opt for patterned or embellished leggings instead of plain black ones. They look a little bit more fun and intentional rather than “I just rolled out of bed.”

7. Accessorise
A huge part of nailing the athleisure trend is adding the right accessories. A glamorous bag or a scarf tied around your neck is sometimes enough to make your sweats look chicer.

8. Be sporty
One piece that makes any pair of sweats look cooler is a leather jacket. Wear this with your workout clothes on chilly days.

9. Think sneakers
Do not limit sneakers to only athleisure. You can pair your sneakers with any formal dress, pantsuit, work pants and shirt combo, etc. This can be a great stepping stone for you to merge athleisure into your work clothing.
