Jada Pinkett Smith Calls Out The Golden Globes For Snubbing “Girls Trip” And Tiffany Haddish
The recently announced golden globe nominations are still getting mixed reactions from numerous people around the world. Yesterday, Jada Pinkett Smith took to Twitter to express her disappointment in the Hollywood Foreign Press for ignoring her movie Girls Trip and Tiffany Haddish, a breakout star from that movie.
Tiffany Hadish won the best-supporting-actress award at New York Films Critics Circle in November for her role in Girls Trip. Ever since then she has been a fan favourite for awards to come but unfortunately, that didn’t happen at with the Golden Globes.
Here’s what Jada Pinkett Smith had to say:
I have so much to say on why @TiffanyHaddish was not nominated for a Globe… but I won't 🤐

Actually I will… here we go…

I'm not upset about @TiffanyHaddish or @GirlsTripMovie not getting a nom… I'm discouraged about the fact that the Hollywood Foreign Press/@goldenglobes wouldn't even WATCH the movie.

She also hinted that race and gender might have played a role in the way Girls Trip was handled by the Hollywood Foreign Press.
And I dare not invalidate all the many journalist and people from all walks of life who have supported this movie by defining the issue as simply… racism.

Hollywood has systems in place that must learn to expand its concepts of race, gender equality and inclusion in regard to its perceptions of art across the board.

The fact that the brilliance of @TheBigSickMovie went unnoticed and the fact that one of the most prolific films of the year, @GetOutMovie, is considered a comedy… illuminates the depths of the sunken place… for real.
