Clicking away on Instagram is no longer a thing one does when they’re bored. Posting and socializing online has become a business – a way to build a brand.

You see them, a la Asiyami Gold, Kehinde Smith, Akin Faminu, Noble Igwe et al. Their Instagram pages are like the pages of a fashion magazine, they have a following bordering on the thousands. Now, the question is, how influential are these people?

Businesses like fashion houses and multimillionaire corporations are now tapping into this limitless power. One post from an influencer about a product could mean an automatic boost in revenue.

They have this power given to them by people who click the ‘follow’ button because they love their content.

Instagram influencers, once thought of as people who had nothing better to do, get invites to the most exclusive parties – some get paid just to attend. Freebies are a must.

For a post, the fee could go as low as thousands of naira, and as high as millions of naira as brand ambassadors.

Toke Makinwa in recent times has released a book and a collection of bags, all which sold really well. This is the power of her brand- the power to move products.

These influencers understand the power they have and they will use it to its fullest form.
