The golden globe nominations are here again and like most years before, this years’ list has its fair share of surprises and shocks. While names like The Shape Of Water, Big Little Lies and Stranger Things are fan favourites to win this edition, here is a list of snubbed actors, directors and/or movies that left fans in shock.

1. Wonder Woman

Wonder Woman is one the highest grossing movies of the year breaking a number of records as one of the best superhero films to hit the big screen. Surprisingly it was snubbed completely this year as neither Patty Jenkins nor Gal Gadot got a nomination for directing or acting respectively.

2. Jordan Peele For ‘Get Out’

Get Out is arguably one of the best thrillers of 2017 and this can be attributed mostly to the prowess of Jordan Peele as a director. Although the movie was nominated in the best picture (musical and comedy) category and Daniel Kaluuya was nominated for best actor, Jordan Peele didn’t bag any nominations for directing or screenplay.

3. The LEGO Batman Movie

The LEGO Batman movie was a fan favourite this year and deservedly so. A brilliant animation that doubles as one of the best superhero movies of 2017, fans are not happy that it didn’t get a nod in the best-animated picture category.

4. Beauty And The Beast

It’s difficult to talk about musicals this year and not mention Beauty And The Beast. As a movie remake of a cult classic, the movie generated a lot buzz and earned mostly positive reviews from critics. This feat sadly wasn’t enough to convince the Hollywood Foreign Press and the movie was totally snubbed.

5. Greta Gerwig For ‘Lady Bird’

Over the years, indie movies have developed a cult following for their relatively obscure and heartfelt stories. This year, there was a lot of love for Lady Bird an indie movie directed by Greta Gerwig and it reflected somewhat in the golden globe nominations. Although the movie got a total of four nominations, this wasn’t enough to satisfy fans because Greta Gerwig was snubbed for the best director category. Making matters worse was the fact that this year, the best director category is dominated solely by male nominees.
