After work, as Lagos traffic can get extremely overwhelming there is always the possibility of buying food on the go. On a quiet Tuesday, I stopped by the Urban Fuxion Food Truck on 10 Adebayo Doherty Street in Lekki Phase 1, outside Pitch and Court. Their menu contains a list of regular proteins such as chicken wings, lamb, ribs and prawns, usually paired with sides like crinkled fries, waffle fries, rice, apple and potato salad.

While I consider myself to be a regular customer, I always have the same meal every time! I usually have their prawn or chicken and fries, but today they had no prawns so I decided to try something different. Being a protein freak, I was glad to establish a new craving so I opted for their half rack pork ribs and waffle fries. Their drink selection comprises of margaritas and regular soft drinks. Although I have heard great things about their famous margaritas, every time I have visited the truck, their fridge has been broken, which leaves me with fewer choices and I resort to Ribena.

The meat was quite tender and easy to digest but I found it a bit dry, it was also not spicy enough. Initially when I placed the order, I had asked for extra pepper on the side because I have trust issues and it’s quite easy to go wrong with ribs. I was also quite disappointed by the waffle fries, as they were slightly too thin and didn’t have enough salt. It almost tasted like a bag of potato chips with little or no seasoning. On the other hand, their prawns and crinkled fries, which are my ultimate constant craving, is everything to write home about. It’s quite spicy, the seasoning is spot on, and you can be sure to get the same quality every time!

Over all, I realised that their food generally has the same seasoning which has elements of barbecue spice. This seasoning is a regular with the ribs, chicken and prawns. So, there is no element of surprise, if you get bored of the seasoning easily then there’s a possibility of getting tired of their entire menu. Furthermore, I suggest getting their meals occasionally and not overdo it like I have in the past, because at this point I will be taking a long break from the Urban Fuxion obsession I once had.

The truck is closed on Mondays and move from outside Pitch and Court to Vapours Nightclub on Fridays. Saturdays, they are at Sip Nightclub between 11:30pm and 5am.

All the meals on the menu come with a side and a drink except Ribena.
