Still on the hunt for some good pasta, I decided to go to Royal Café, which is located on Etim Inyang Crescent, Victoria Island, Lagos. I walked into this beautiful space full of light and plants strategically used as decor, at about 6 pm. Just what I needed, an empty clear space to reflect on Lagos life.

Royal Café is participating in the Visa Restaurant Week, which goes on from the 1st to the 21st of November, the week gives visa cardholders discount on special menus. They had two menus available, which included lunch for N7000, dinner for N9000 (starters, main and dessert). Since I’m a visa cardholder, I thought why not?

For starters

Southwest crispy chicken rolls
This meal comprised of minced seasoned chicken, mixed with black beans, corn, pico de gallo (chopped tomato, onion, cilantro, fresh serranos) and cheese, wrapped in spring roll wrapper, served with guacamole sauce. This generously sized meal was extremely yummy. I loved how crunchy it was and the cheesy combination was just right. I could only eat two out of the six chicken rolls, as it was really filling.

For the Main

Seafood Alfredo Pasta
Who doesn’t love some creamy Alfredo? This combo was a blend of shrimp, calamari and white fish served over a bed of tagliatelle in creamy cheese sauce. I found it a bit too creamy, so I asked for some spicy pepper sauce, which turned out to be a tomato-like sauce. I also added some parmesan cheese to the mix and again, the size was generous so I ate half and took the rest home.

Dessert
Three scoops of ice cream

For dessert, I chose three scoops of ice cream, vanilla, strawberry and stracciatella. While the presentation was great, I didn’t really enjoy the ice cream because I’ve had much better tasting ice cream in Lagos. I’d suggest trying something else like their brownie or daily pastry.
