Review: Small Chops At Sugarcane
There are quite a few places to find cheap small chops in Lagos but it’s quite difficult to find places to have great drinks to go with tasty “gourmet” small chops. Sometimes you’re not necessarily looking to eat the main course, you might just want to drink and nibble something over some much-needed gist! So I did some minor research and found a beautifully laid out selection of small chops at Sugarcane. The restaurant is located at 6 Ologun Agbeje St, Victoria Island, Lagos.
On Monday (which was a public holiday) I walked in the restaurant, which was partially empty. Shortly after I settled in, they served some delightful cinnamon popcorn. Their menu was packed with lots of goodies, from burgers to pasta to pancakes (all day breakfast) so it was really hard to stick to my small chops craving for the day.
Small chops platter and The Refresher
The platter comprised of puff puff, samosas, spring rolls, BBQ chicken wings and battered shrimp. They also put a selection of sauces in the middle with tomato, sweet and sour, pepper and soy sauce. You know when you get your small chops right out of the oven? When the pastry is warm and the puff puff is soft on the inside and crunchy on the outside? That was what I was served and it was everything I had imagined it would be!
Being a huge fan of tequila-based cocktails, this cocktail was a great mix, especially with the guava and lime flavours.
Avocado Hummus
This hummus was average; there was nothing too special about it. I would have preferred the bread but it came cold. I wasn’t too impressed with the way it tasted quite bland and dry.
Verdict
I love the Sugarcane space, I definitely fell in love with the small chops as the platter was super tasty, generous and perfect for sharing. The meals range from about medium to expensive (N3000- N12000)
Price Box
Small chop platter: N8500
Avocado hummus: 3200
The Refresher: N2700
