We think of buns as the identical twin of puff-puff that is hard on the outside but when you take a look inside its heart, it’s soft and mushy.

This snack is yummy, easy to make and not as oily as puff-puff.

Recipe makes seven buns.

Ingredients

  • 150g all-purpose flour
  • ½ tsp baking powder
  • 2 tbsps liquid milk or 1 tbsp powdered milk
  • 1 tbsp granulated sugar
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp nutmeg
  • Warm water
  • Vegetable Oil (for frying)

Directions

  1. Sift the flour into a bowl. Measure out the sugar, salt, nutmeg and baking powder and add to the bowl of flour.
  2. Add the evaporated or powdered milk.
  3. Add warm water bit by bit and mix properly.
  4. Use your hand to knead the dough properly, then make small balls with the dough and set aside.
  5. Heat up oil about two or more inches deep. Deep fry in moderately hot vegetable oil, stirring constantly. They stay at the bottom when raw, and then rise slowly as they get done. The classic Nigerian bun cracks.
  6. Serve with cold zobo or any other juice of your choice.
