Throwback To Series We Miss

Out with the old and in with the new, series come and go but some remain true. Remember binge-watching series into the night and exhibiting the traits from some of your favourite characters? Some series like the ones listed below really did make life much more fun.

Gossip Girl
“And who am I? That’s a secret I’d never tell. You know you love me. Xoxo Gossip Girl”. This series from CW Television Network will forever be etched in our hearts, from it-girl Serena van der Woodsen (Blake Lively) to the toxic-intriguing relationship of Blair Waldorf (Leighton Meester) and Chuck Bass (Ed Westwick). It was filled with gossip, love triangles and everyday conflicts that are so relatable. The series ran for six seasons from 2007 to 2012 and had us swooning from designer bags, high society events and what life could really be in the Big Apple.

Criminal Minds
To catch the unsub (unknown subject), you had to think like the unsub! Criminal Minds was rich in character from IT wizard Penelope (Kirsten Vangsness), Reid (Matthew Gubler) the genius and the ever-sexy Derek (Sherman Moore). The series brought the much-needed twist to crime series with the introduction of unsubs. The series by The Mark Gordon Company started in 2005 but has lost a bit of its following, which might be as a result of character changes as well as the fact that as much as we love to watch these series, we also need them to end.

How I Met Your Mother
“It’s going to be Legen… wait for it… dary! Legendary!”, the catchphrase by Barney of How I Met Your Mother was indeed legendary. The series, which aired on CBS in 2005 and ended in 2013, revolved around the lives of four friends, Ted (Josh Radnor), Marshall and Lily (Jason Segel and Allison Hannigan), Barney (Neil Patrick Harris) and Robin (Cobie Smulders). The series is told from Ted as he recalls the story to his son, of how he met his mother which describes the humorous life with his friends, their love lives, and careers.

Prison Break
Scofield (Wentworth Miller) was the genius mastermind behind most of the prison breaks in this movie. Through his tattoos (now that we think about it, Blindspot is doing a similar thing) and intelligence, he gets himself incarcerated to break his brother Lincoln (Dominic Purcell) out of prison for a crime he didn’t commit. Going to prison was the easy part but being a criminal on the run was the intriguing part of this series. The series, which started in 2009, has made a comeback this year, but the jury is still open on its impact.

Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) and his daily countdown with terrorists made for every season of this series. Starting in 2001, we are thrown into the world of Counter Terrorist Unit (CTU) and probably their best detective, Bauer, who races against the 24-hour clock in his bid to save the country from terrorist attacks, which ranged from presidential assassination attempts, weapons of mass destruction detonations to conspiracies that deal with government and corporate corruption. A spin-off was premiered this year but none can compare to the initial nine seasons.
