Nigerian-British actor, John Boyega,  has revealed the conditions he set before he agreed to act in his latest film Pacific Rim Uprising.

He said that he told Legendary Pictures executives that he would only act on the condition that he is made a producer.

He explained that at a meeting with the Mary Parent, the CEO of Legendary Pictures, where she asked him if he would love to act in the sequel of the Pacific Rim, he replied:

“I had to dig deep into the Yoruba in me and I said I won’t star unless I produce. She said, cool let’s see your vision for it, let’s see where your mind it at.

I wanted to collaborate with the writers to bring something new to the franchise. To make it funny, to make it engaging and lively and fast. I didn’t want it to be too slow. So by the time you know it the film is over. So we had the same vision and Upper Room, this is our official first released project”

He succeeded as his company Upper Room Entertainment produced the film.
