It’s a sad day for us all.

The infamous Madea (acronym for Mother Dear )has come to an end with Tyler Perry saying he is “tired” and ready to “kill that old” lady.

The matriarch who has graced our screens for over 20 years will be gone by 2019, the award-winning filmmaker told SiriusXM radio host, Bevy Smith on the Bevelations show.

“I’m tired, man. I just don’t want to be her age, playing her,” the 49-year-old said.

Madea has over time received criticism for her foul language and for fueling the stereotype of a mad black woman.

The actor once said that his inspiration for the Madea brand was got after Nutty Professor (played by Eddie Murphy) and she was modelled after his mother and his aunt.

“She would beat the hell out of you but make sure the ambulance got there in time to make sure they could set your arm back, you know what I mean? Because the love was there inside all of it. I know it sounds really strange, but that’s the old-school mentality. That’s why I think the character is so popular, because a lot of people miss that type of grandmother; everybody is so worried about being politically correct that she’s no longer around,” he told Fresh Air host, Terry Gross.
