Let Us Pray(21)

. How often should we pray daily? when should we pray?
Key verses: “I rise before the dawning of the morning, and cry for help; I hope in Your word. 148: My eyes are awake through the night watches, that I may meditate on Your word,” (Ps 119:147, 148).
“… In supplications and prayers night and day,” (1 Tim 5:5).
“… As without ceasing I remember you in my prayers night and day,” (2 Tim 1:3).
“I remember Your name in the night, O Lord,” (Ps 119:55).
“O my God, I cry in the daytime … and in the night season, and am not silent,” (Ps 22:2).

A spirit-inspired life leads to a Spirit-empowered life
Establish a definite time to pray: Do not find time to pray, you make the time; spontaneous prayers must be seen as extras.

The morning watch
“… In the morning I lay my requests before you and wait in expectation,” (Ps 5:3)
If you are too busy to have a daily quiet time with the Lord, then you are probably busier than God intends you to be. So build a fence around a certain part of the day and reserve it for contact with God through prayer.

Many find the morning period as the best time to pray. This is when their mind is fresh and the day is still before them. The psalmist said, “…In the morning I lay my requests before you and wait in expectation,” (Ps 5:3). Don’t try to find a time for prayer—make time. If you go through the day trying to fit a prayer time into your schedule you will fail.

Make it the first priority after you awake from sleep to keep a prayer appointment with God. We need not be legalistic and limit our prayers to these times, because we can pray anywhere—in the street, on the way to work, travelling in a bus or train. But these spontaneous prayers must be seen as extras. Growth and development in the Christian life demand firmness with ourselves in relation to fixed and definite times for prayer.Read Psalm 5:1-7.

What Was The Practice Of The Psalmist?
“My voice You shall hear in the morning, O Lord; in the morning I will direct it to You, and I will look up,” (Ps 5:3).
The secret of a close relationship with God is to pray to him earnestly each morning. In the morning our minds are freer from problems and we can commit the whole day to God. Regular communication helps any friendship and is certainly necessary for a strong relationship with God. We need to communicate with him daily. Do you have a regular time to pray and read God’s Word?

“My voice you shall hear.” Firmly determined to seek God with all his heart, David commits himself to three actions; 1:Confident that God will hear his voice, he will persist in prayer and not live without it (vv. 1-2; cf. Deut 4:29).
