Faces at the 2017 HR Technology conference

The GODP 2017 HR Technology Conference has been held place at Four Points Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.

It was attended by delegates from a cross-section of organisations, all eager to help chart the course for efficient HR practice in West Africa and to find solutions to current challenges currently confronting the industry.

The host company was GODP Consulting, an innovative business consultancy on a mission to “make businesses all around the world more efficient, self-sufficient and profitable.” It is a cutting-edge leader in the area of business consulting and provision of enterprise technology like its GOS HRM application, tailor-made to optimize HR processes and relieve recurrent stress associated with managing the workforce in small, medium and large organisations. The event was another portrayal of the company’s commitment to making business processes more efficient, business people more effective and businesses more profitable.

Being a pre-registered event, attendees went through a process of accreditation before being ushered into the hall and treated to an enlightening and illuminating experience as speakers poured out from their wealth of wisdom, guiding the participants on the path to efficiency in their HR practice.

The event kicked off with a welcome address by the conference anchor, Mr Olayinka Agbaje-Williams; the Brand and Business Development Manager of GODP Consulting, after which Rosy Baker, current ISV Sales Manager at Oracle Corporation, South Africa spoke on the topic, “Africa, The New Technology Hub.” The presentation opened the eyes of delegates to see Africa’s bright technological future and how they could all contribute to its attainment.

Mr. Seun Akinyelu, the host and lead consultant at GODP Consulting, then shared the vision of his organization with the attendees before launching into his riveting presentation, “The Efficient HR Technology,” where he carefully sensitized the audience on what efficient HR Technology looks like and how the GOS HRM ticks all the boxes and meets all the HR process management needs of the industry.

The conference then took a break for participants to connect and network with each other, over coffee and light refreshments. On resumption of proceedings, Oyiza Salu, Group Head of HR at GTBank took the audience through her though-provoking presentation titled,

“Efficient Practice In Performance Management,” positing that the performance management process needs to be redefined to be able to establish clear and measurable goals, aligned with business objectives and communicated clearly to employees whose feedback should always be taken into cognizance.

With the audience stirred up, Benjamin Pashkoff, a highly experienced pre-sales engineer and current Principal Technology Consultant at Oracle Corporation, Israel, took the floor, speaking on the topic, “Human Resource Management And Cloud Technology,” emphasizing that all HR processes must now move to the cloud to avoid geographical, space and time constraints.

Afterwards, Olawale Adediran, the Vice President of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management Nigeria (CIPM), and Group HR Director of FMN Plc, captivated the audience with his session on “Achieving Efficiency In The Workplace.”

The speech served as food for thought for the attendees, as each was left ruminating on how HR processes were currently being run in their respective organisations and how such processes could be carried out more efficiently.

Mr. Kayode Alonge of Integrated Corporate Services, representing the Managing Director of the company, Mr Peter Akindeju rounded up the order of presentations with the topic, “Efficient Practice In Workforce Planning And Recruitment,” His emphasis was on the evolution of the HR practice, how it has morphed from being merely staff administration to becoming a core contributor and executor of the overall organizational strategy.

The conference then finished off with a discussion forum, where the audience were given the opportunity to ask questions from the panel of speakers, after which the anchor gave the vote of thanks and charged the participants to judiciously implement all lessons learned during the conference.

True to the promise value earlier specified by the host, the attendees were challenged, motivated and enlightened and all spoke with in one voice affirming that technology was the pathway to attaining efficiency in the practice of HR in their respective workplaces and implementing an efficient solution like GOS HRM was required to not only automate HR processes across board, but to reduce the attendant costs.

The feedback from delegates was fantastic and suggestions were made for the conference to be held more frequently.

It was a great outing for all, as attention now turns to Accra for the 2017 HR Technology Conference – Ghana Session, holding on December 5, also this year at the La Palms Royal Beach Hotel, Accra.
