Imo Assembly Speaker reshuffles committees

Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly, Chike Olemgbe, yesterday, announced a reshuffle of the standing committees. This is coming after he had announced the suspension of four members over an alleged plot to impeach him.
 
Olemgbe disclosed the changes as follows: Gilbert Nwosu, representing Oguta Constituency (Chairman, House Committee on Health), replacing the former Chairman, Samuel Otuibe, currently on suspension amd Dr. Obinna Egu, representing Ngor Opkala Constituency.

He also replaced Dr. Henry Agbasonu, who represents Ezinihitte Mbaise Constituency. Others are Dr Ikenna Ihezuo, representing Orlu Constituency (Chairman, Judiciary and Information). He used him to replace Dominic Ezerioha, who represents Oru West Constituency, but currently suspended; Johnson Duru, representing Ideato South Constituency (Majority Leader and Chairman, House committee on Science and Technology) and Kanayo Onyemaechi, who represents Owerri West Constituency (Chairman, House Committee on Lands, Ethics, Privileges, and House Service); Bernard Ozoemena, Chairman, Committee on Humanitarian Affairs, Gender, Food Security, and Nutrition and Clinton Amadi, representing Owerri Municipal, appointed Chairman, House Committee on Digital Economy and E-Government, Entrepreneurship, and Skills Acquisition.

Furthermore, Princewill Amuche, representing Aboh-Mbaise Constituency was made the Chairman, House Committee on Water Resources and Kelechi Ofurum, representing Owerri North Constituency, who was appointed House Committee Chairman on Power, Rural Electrification, Mines and Solid Minerals.
 
According to Olemgbe, the reshuffling was to enhance efficiency and effectiveness of the House’s operations, ensuring that the committees are led by capable hands after the recent suspensions.
