However, my overactive conscience refused to be silenced. Chigozie really needed my help and it was unfair to deprive him of a once in a lifetime opportunity simply because I wanted to win back Tunji’s heart.

“Miss Williams how may I help you this time”? Tunji asked as I walked into his office. “Hello Tunji, how are you doing”? I asked with a very mischievous smile on my face.

Tunji rolled his eyes….the man knows me too well! “Cut to the chase. What storm do you have brewing in your purse now”? He asked reclining his swivel chair and putting his feet up on his desk.

The tone of his voice indicated that he wanted me to leave quickly but his body language indicated otherwise. He was obviously relaxed and happy to see me. “Isn’t a girl allowed to visit her family friend anymore”? I asked sinking into the chair opposite him.

“Family friend”? He asked raising his eyebrow. “Is that all I am to you now ehn Miss Williams”? Was he flirting with me? I quickly got with the programme. “Would you like to be more than that”? I asked also raising an eyebrow dramatically.

He threw his head back and laughed. “If I didn’t know better, I would assume that you really did come in peace”. He said. “What is that supposed to mean”? I asked sternly.

“And there it is…the real Adesewa. Ok ma, I take my words back. How may I help you’’? He asked. I took a deep breath. I suddenly wished I had honestly just come to pay a courtesy visit. Now I was about to prove him right by stirring up trouble.

“I need your help”. I finally admitted to him. “Anything for you beautiful”. He said with a smile. Gosh! This was my moment! This was it, he was flirting with me. This was my opportunity to just throw up some old memories and worm my way back into his heart and fix all the damage I had caused over the last couple of months.

However, my overactive conscience refused to be silenced. Chigozie really needed my help and it was unfair to deprive him of a once in a lifetime opportunity simply because I wanted to win back Tunji’s heart.

“I’m waiting Princess”. Tunji said. My heart melted again. Only two people in the entire world called me that; my father and Tunji. Maybe after today only my father would call me that.

“Tunji it’s about Chigozie”. I said. From the look on his face, I knew our little moment of happiness was nothing but a flash in the pan.
