Adekogbe Oyinlola is a fashion entrepreneur. She is the CEO of Jedi&Co.  She started her business with N15, 000 and her dream is to build Africa’s largest, most customercentric fashion brand. The core of the brand is creating versatile pieces that can serve more than one purpose as seen with the company’s detachable shoe accessories.

What problem does your company solve?
We create versatile and trendy clothing and accessories at affordable price points for the Nigerian woman.

What ignited the spark in you to start your business venture?
My business started out of my love for shoes. As a student, I had spent all my allowance to buy three pairs of shoes for personal use, but got offers from people to buy and I sold two instantly, with one person asking that I get her size. And that was it; the requests kept coming in as one person told another about their purchase.

What would you say are the top three skills needed to be a successful entrepreneur?
Commitment. Passion. Adaptability.

How did you respond to failure as an entrepreneur?
My first response usually is “at least I tried”, then I sit down to analyse if there was anything I should have done differently. Finally, I step up and take the next challenge.

How long do you stick with an idea before giving up?
Depends on a few factors, but I have learnt that an idea might not work out now, not because it is a bad idea, but because it is not the right time.

Describe your typical day
I wake up at 3:00am, do some work for my business, go back to bed at 6:00am and nap till 7:00am. Then I get up and set out for my 9to5. Then I get to go to the store on days I close early from my 9to5 (6:00pm to7:00pm) and spend a few hours catching up on business before heading home.

What motivates you?
The desire to leave something behind that is bigger than me.

How would you define success?
Success is knowing you have fulfilled God’s purpose for your life.
