AgricultureFOUNDER of Uplifting Women Through Farming (UWTF), Afoma Adigwe, has called on the national leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to encourage its representatives in government to give agriculture more thought.

Adigwe, who paid a courtesy visit to the national chairman of APC, Chief John Oyegun in company of the national woman leader of the party, Hajiya Ramatu Aliyu, in Abuja said; “We have been on this project of promoting and encouraging women and youths to embrace agriculture for 15 years and I can tell you as someone who has been consistently promoting this cause that we still need lots of enlightenment and sensitisation on the importance of agriculture as alternative to oil.

“We are appealing to you as the leader of the ruling party to please encourage government at all levels to create a special place for agriculture and make it attractive as much as possible to our women and youths.”

Oyegun however, assured Adigwe and her team that agriculture is top on the APC’s agenda.

The UWTF founder whose organisation will soon mark its 15 years of existence has concluded plans to commence broadcast of an Agric Talk Show, which according to her, will focus on agriculture and its numerous benefits.
