Organisers of The Sustainability, Enterprise and Sustainability awards, otherwise known as The SERAS CSR Awards have announced the call for entry for the 2018 edition. Since its 12 years of existence, SERAS international positioning as the most glamorous, biggest and credible body on the continent has taken further leap with the participation of organisations from Nigeria, Angola, Uganda, South Africa, Kenya, Botswana and Ghana amongst others.

By 2017, the annual award had recorded its highest number in participation- 130 top organisations and 41 small and medium scale enterprises, making a total of 171 organisations taking part in jostling for the gold standard award in CSR and sustainability in Africa. The theme for this year is ‘Poverty Eradication Through Sustainability: Turning Challenges into Opportunities.’

According to its founder, Ken Egbas, “The number 12 is a combination of two numbers: 1 stands for ‘staying positive’ and 2 connotes ‘keeping the faith.’ From inception till date, we have remained positive that the objective we set out to achieve – to lead the drive towards actualization of the sustainable development goals in Africa by enabling a platform that promotes, measures and harmonises the contributions of private sector, governments/public sector and non-governmental organisations to attain set targets – would be met sooner than later.”

The organisers also announced two new award categories in the line with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Entry opened on April 26 and closes on July 20. Interested organisations are expected to log onto www.theseras.com to participate. The award ceremony is billed for November 9 at Eko Hotel, Lagos.
