Ten powerful anti-inflammatory herbs – Part 2

Today we shall be looking at the concluding part of the article on the 10 powerful anti-inflammatory herbs

1. Cayenne pepper contains capsaicin, which gives it the hot and spicy taste. It has analgesic properties by which it controls joint and muscle discomfort. Capsaicin affects the synthesis, secretion and transport of substance P. This is a chemical substance that causes inflammation in the joints. It mediates pain impulses in the central nervous system by transmitting pain to the brain when the concentration is high enough. Capsaicin blocks it and keeps the concentration at a low level, thereby preventing the impulses from getting to the brain. Cayenne pepper contains different phytonutrients and an extensive variety of flavonoids. These are cancer prevention agents (antioxidants) that work at the cellular level where they neutralise free radicals that can cause cell damage.

2. Cinnamon is as flavourful as it is nutritious. It is obtained from the bark of trees in the genus Cinnamomum. It is used often as an aromatic ointment and flavourings in food. These uses of cinnamon are derived from its main component known as cinnamaldehyde. Next to this component of cinnamon is another known as eugenol. Eugenol is an extract of certain essential oils also found in such plant derivatives as basil, bay leaf, clove and nutmeg. There are numerous phytonutrients in crude cinnamon which function as preventive agents against cancer. In this group are flavanol phytochemicals that are known for positively affecting irritation in the human body.
Cinnamaldehyde is known to hinder certain proteins that are factors in causing aggregation of blood cells and prevent clot formation within the blood vessels.
You can start to see the advantages of cinnamon when you take between 1-1.5grams a day. A higher dose than this can prompt unfavorable responses or acid reflux.

3. Cloves. Eugenol is particularly potent oil found in cloves. It is more potent than any other. Eugenol has a close affinity to cinnamaldehyde in their mode of action. It works by partially inhibiting the enzyme that is responsible for causing an inflammatory response. This is actually the same enzyme that non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs target, making cloves and clove oil one of the most potent natural anti-inflammatories available. As little as a drop of clove oil can effectively reduce inflammation topically.

4. Sage. The two primary compounds in sage, carnosic acid and carnosol, give sage its unique flavor and are responsible for many of its health benefits. Sage increases the activity of superoxide dismutase, which is responsible for metabolizing and eliminating superoxide from the body. Superoxide is a free radical that is known to cause considerable inflammation in the human body.
Dried sage leaf has been indicated to reveal benefits at doses between 300 and 600 mg, but regular, fresh leaf should be taken in doses between four and six grams daily.

5. Rosemary whose scientific name is Rosmarinus officianalis contains a lot of phytochemicals, which include rosmarinus acid, camphor, caffeic acid, carnosic and carnosol.
Rosemary is loaded with antioxidants, vitamins C and A, thiamine, riboflavin and folic acid. Minerals found in Rosemary are magnesium, zinc, phosphorus and copper. Rosemary reduces inflammation, eases pain and reduces swelling. It soothes osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis and such other pains as back pain, gout, sciatica, stiff neck and menstrual pain in some cases. It also boosts the immune system and fights infection.
New rosemary leaf can be utilized at dosages in the vicinity of 4 and 6 grams daily to help treat side effects of rheumatoid joint inflammation. The basic oil can be utilized as a part of measurements of 0.1 to 1 ml to treat comparative side effects.

6. Green tea. Green tea has been respected for some time for having an extensive variety of medical advantages. As of late, it has appeared to be successful at decreasing irritation for joint pain sufferers.

Two or more cups of green tea daily are sufficient to give gentle alleviation from indications of irritation.
