Sub-Sahara needs a million health workers to meet SDGs, says foundation
To meet Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Sub-Sahara Africa countries, according to the Women and Children Health Foundation (WACHEF) require at least additional one million healthcare workers.
This, according to the foundation, is why states, as a matter of urgency, need to adopt and implement the National policy document on Task Shifting and Task Sharing (TSTS).
It, however, said 21 out of the 36 states of the federation have adopted and implemented the document.
The foundation made this known, yesterday, in Jalingo, Taraba State.
Speaking at a stakeholders’ dialogue meeting on ‘Task Shifting and Task Sharing policy’ organised by the foundation, with support from Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the foundation consultant, Dr. Musa Haruna noted that about 57 percent of the state have adopted and implemented the policy.
