IN an effort to promote healthier lifestyle and prevent pupils in schools from contracting disease, Dettol Nigeria Plc, has commenced fresh rounds of visit to schools to educate pupils and teachers on the benefits of personal hygiene especially hand washing.

The school visits, was targeted at driving home the key message of proper hand washing culture as the most effective strategy to reduce illnesses among school children such as diarrhea and other respiratory diseases often caused by germs and poor personal hygiene.

Towards this, the Ambassador of Dettol Brand and veteran Nollywood actress, Patience Ozokwor popularly known as Mama G, last week led the personal hygiene campaign to Chrisland School, Ikeja, Lagos, during the school’s inter-house sports competition including Royal Masters School, Ikeja, Lagos and Gopherwood School, Lagos benefited from Dettol. The students fully participated in the do-it-yourself six steps of effective hand washing, and they commended Dettol for the initiative.

Parents and teachers in the schools were also advised to imbibe the culture of regular hand washing in order to live healthy and be active. Ozokwor reminded them that germs posed serious danger to human health and they could cause illnesses such as flu, fever, cough and catarrh, which might lead to untimely death.

Ozokwor said: “Nothing else compares to having good health. We are not happy when our loved ones or we fall sick; we go through pains and unable to go about our regular activities. Germs are found everywhere; on the playground, in toilets and in trash can. It is therefore important that after we play with friends or use the toilet or trash rubbish, we must wash our hands properly with Dettol soap and clean water.”

Ozokwor commended Management of Dettol for their commitment to empowering Nigerians through innovative solutions that could bring about healthier living.

Marketing Director, West Africa, Reckitt Benckiser, Oguzhan Silivrili, affirmed that Nigerians should embrace standard solutions for proper healthy living such as regular hand washing as one of the effective ways to protect themselves and loved ones against illness caused by germs.

Silivrili said: “Solutions that do not protect from us from all 100 types of germs are substandard and we at Reckitt Benckiser advocate that people do not protect themselves with substandard solutions but with gold standard solution.
