Vocational skills trainers, Rullion Capacity Builders, recently held its 10th graduation ceremony for participants of its skills acquisition programme in Lagos.

The three-week intensive programme included courses in cake baking and decoration, events planning/management/decoration, slippers, sandals and bag making and photography among others.

The Coordinator, Mrs. Oluwatoyin Egedi, praised the participants for taking the bold step to guarantee their future. She encouraged them to take whatever they had learned further by enrolling for certificate and diploma programmes or by doing more research and study online. She emphasised the need for empowerment of the youth and women as well as the need to acquire skills and create jobs for self rather than endlessly waiting for the elusive whitecollar jobs. She stressed that entrepreneurship is the future of any developing economy such as Nigeria.

A resource person, Pastor Tokunbo Olorunnimbe, while admonishing the participants not to look down on the little they had learnt, said the prerogative was theirs to either grow it or watch it die. He charged them to emulate good Christian virtues such as integrity, hard work, truthfulness and good work ethics.

One of the participants Mrs. Ero Uyoyo expressed appreciation to the organisers of the training and said, “I can confidently say that this will generate a second source of income for me”.
