PZ Cussons assures of continuous investment in Chemistry Challenge

After successfully hosting the 2016/2017 edition of Nigeria’s leading pure science competition known as PZ Cussons Chemistry Challenge (PZCCC), the winners of the competition recently applauded the firms commitment to reviving student’s interest in Chemistry subject, while touring the corporate head office and factory of PZ Cussons Nigeria Plc, Lagos. The visit was supported by two of PZ Cussons’ top brands – Premier Cool and Nunu Milk – in an appreciation of the organisation for building a glowing future for Nigerian students.

While receiving the winners, Chief Executive Officer, PZ Cussons, Mr. Christos Giannopoulos, congratulated both the students and their schools’ representatives for their exceptional performance. He said the Chemistry challenge was borne out of the company’s commitment to promoting the importance of chemistry in everyday life.

He explained that PZ Cussons designed the challenge to help spur interest in chemistry as a subject and develop a credible succession recruitment line for the industry by encouraging secondary school students to explore the career opportunities that abound in chemistry, as a science subject. He admonished the winners to be focused in life so as not to be carried away by distractions and peer pressure.

Also speaking, Regional Marketing Director, Kalyan Bandyopadhyay, advised parents and teachers to plant the seed of greatness in the minds of pupils to ensure a brighter future for the country in social, economic and political spheres.

While responding on behalf of the winners, overall champion, Master Ogunmola Dara, an SS II Student of New Hall International School, Lekki, Lagos, noted that his feeling and experience since he won the competition had not been the same. He applauded the company for the initiative and appealed for the competition to be expanded in the next edition.

The radiance of excitement was not limited to the overall winner, as both the first and second runners-up were part of the ‘victory parade.’ It would be recalled that Oyelamin Samuel of Tomia Community Senior Secondary School, Alagbado and Anyika Justine of Federal Government College Ijanikin emerged first and second runners-up respectively.

Launched in 2007, PZ Cussons Nigeria Foundation has been helping Nigerian communities by supporting projects in the areas of education, potable water, health and empowerment. The foundation has completed over 65 projects in different parts of the country.
