AS part of their Corporate Social Responsibilities, Heineken Africa Foundation in collaboration with Nigeria Breweries PLC (NB), has donated a fully-equipped accident and emergency centre to the Ikorodu General Hospital and rehabilitated the Pediatrics Center at the Agbala Health Center in Ikorodu.

The facilities, which was on Thursday commissioned by the Deputy Governor, Mrs. Idiat Adebule, was described as “ world-class facilities” by the Human Resource Manager, NB, Mr. Victor Famuyibo.

Adebule said “the location of the facility is strategic as it will provide quality health care service to a rapidly growing population with attendant increase in road and riverine transport activities.”

The Deputy Governor noted that since the governor’s appeal to the private sector in August, 2015 at the handing over of some fleet of transport ambulance and Mobile Intensive Care Units (MICU) to the Ministry of Health and general hospitals, to support the state government towards realizing the objectives of providing quality health care service delivery, “I have been privileged to commissioned a number of health facilities established by the private sector.

She commended the donors and urged the team of health professionals, community leaders, families and all stakeholders to take ownership of the facilities. “Utilize the services available in these facilities and preserve them, because they belong to you.”

The Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Ministry of Health, Dr. Modele Osunkiyesi, explained that due to “the opening up of the Ikorodu road and the influx of people into Ikorodu town and environs, the prevalence of vehicular accidents and other emergencies expectedly increased, while the need for such facility emerged.

She further said the rehabilitated Agbala Pediatric Centre will complement those provided at the general hospital to which referrals will be made as and when this is indicated.
