Nasrul-Lahi-L-Fatih Society (NASFAT) has called on Nigerians and other key political stakeholders to involve more of pious women in governance in order to achieve national development.

This recommendation was made at the sixth Biennial Women Conference of NASFAT, which took place at the National Teachers’ Institute in Kaduna State.

National Women Affairs Secretary, NASFAT, Alhaja Samiat Mumuni, advised delegates and all Muslim women to be good role models of Islam in all aspect of human endeavours.

Guest Speaker at the event, Hajia Maryam Lemu of Islamic Education Trust in Minna, urged women to keep adding values to themselves, engage more in personal development, professionally, spiritually, emotionally and economically.

According to her, more pious and sound women should be given the opportunity to serve the nation because wherever you put women of integrity, things work better.

The wife of Kaduna State Governor, Architect Hadiza Isma El-Rufai, commended NASFAT for their great strides in education, dawah, empowerment among others and tasked women to prepare themselves for leadership positions for the good of the nation.

She called on women to take advantage of the various empowerment programs put in place by Governor Nasir El-Rufai’s led administration.

NASFAT’s President, Engr. Kamil Bolarinwa reminded all that good parental upbringing is very important and that Muslims should train their children as true Muslims who must not cheat, lie or be involved in any bad behaviour.

“Our way of life is a reflection of our upbringing. We must realise the fact that youth constitute a larger percentage of the population, which must be well-taken care of. Islam is all about peace, being the best in everything, love for neighbor even being nice to animals, unfortunately, we are being labeled terrorists. All these must change,” he said.

Emir of Zazzau, Dr. Shehu Idris, represented by the Chief Imam of Zazzau, Sheik Dalhatu Kasimu, reminded women of their great roles in home and nation building while urging all Nigerians not to allow politicians to divide them along tribal and religious lines.

A lecture titled; “Preparing Muslimah For The Challenges of Our Time”, delivered by Dr. Binta AbdulKareem, Hajia Safiyya Muhammed called on parents to take the issue of marriage counseling seriously in order to prepare all young couples and those going through troubles in their marriages for the challenges of marital life.

“We must educate all our children, promote community awareness on the importance of education, build their self-esteem and confidence, support women financially, spiritually, psychologically, morally and physically to prove their worth and exhibit their God-given talents.”

All those who spoke at the event condemned the situation of unpreparedness of many young couples for marriage which always resulted into many marital problems and called on parents to do the necessary counseling before and during marriages.

Parents were also urged to be on the same page with their children regarding the use of social media in order to be able to provide the necessary guidance and control.

“We should be highly concerned that our desired standard of Islamic values like learning the faith, general education, consciousness of Allah, selflessness, charitable spirit, tolerance, accommodation of differences, humility, peaceful cohabitation among others are fast declining in the family system and our social environment by the day,” he said.
