MUSWEN 1 20-3-15 CopyThe Muslim Ummah of South West Nigeria (MUSWEN) has urged Nigerians to shun corruption, describing the perpetrators of the crime as enemies of Allah and humanity.

The Executive Secretary, Muslim Ummah of South West Nigeria (MUSWEN), Prof. Dawud O.S. Noibi, in a statement, asked Nigerians to pray fervently for the country and its leadership headed by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Corroborating the position of the Sultan of Sokoto and President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III on meting out severe punishment to those who have looted the resources of the nation, MUSWEN however urge the President not to be deterred by the rhetorics of the opponents of the anti-graft war.

“The perpetrators of corruption are surely enemies of God and enemies of the citizens. They are enemies of God, as they plundered the resources that He has provided for equitable distribution to all and sundry; and they are enemies of the citizens by making them poor in the midst of plenty.

“The government and the people of Nigeria therefore owe the duty of resisting the fight-back being put up by the looters and their supporters. We urge the President not to be deterred by the rhetorics of the opponents of the anti-graft stance and efforts of his Government. Let him strengthen his trust in God by Whose special Grace the 2015 elections went the way they did. The President should also be rest assured that the over-whelming majority of Nigerians are fully in support of his unwavering anti-corruption stance for which he is well known and on the basis of which they elected him,” he stated.

South West Muslims group also called the attention of the President to “unmistakable indications that some greedy, self-seeking elements in the country are desperately fighting back to sabotage the war against corruption.

“On the part of the people, we should all remain fully alert and should resist the campaign of calumny embarked upon by the enemies of the nation against the anti-graft determination of the government. We should dispel their rumours and reject their antics,” Noibi said.

He noted further that: “Sadly, the fact that corruption has eaten deep into the fabric of the nation is felt painfully by most Nigerians. The enormous wealth with which the country is blessed has been plundered with impunity by the few greedy ones. Wide spread corruption by most Nigerians has badly tarnished the image of the country in the eyes of the world. The “419” syndrome has discouraged prospective foreign investors from coming to do business here and the ordinary citizens of our country are paying dearly and painfully for the insatiable greed of the few who have shamelessly abused the privileges they enjoyed,” the MUSWEN scribe said, adding “Nigerians should intensify prayers for the nation, for the president and for his government.

“We should pray fervently everyday for the president and his corrective government that they may succeed eminently in leading the country out of the wilderness of corruption, immorality and consequent degradation, for we cannot afford to miss this golden opportunity.

“It is the unshaken belief of MUSWEN that Allah Who, in March and April this year, responded so mercifully to our prayers, will not allow the blessings that He thus granted us to go down the drains,” he stated.
