Jeff-Akor,-winner-CopyAFTER eight weeks of gruelling training and breath-taking performances, Jeffrey Akor, last Saturday, was announced winner of the MTN Project Fame West Africa Season 8.0 winner.

The grand finale of the event, the closing gala certainly delivered on its promise of excitement. Adding to its achievement was the brilliant idea of allowing the six finalists perform with A-list artistes in producing a remix of their hit songs. The collaboration saw the six contestants paired with Sound Sultan, Yemi Alade, Chidinma, 9ice, Praiz and Iyanya as against the norm of the past, where contestants did their own composition.

Jeffrey staved off stiff competition from the five other finalists, Deinde Okubajo, Pearl Awa-Agwu, Adanoritsewo Gold Tosanwumi, Olufunmilayo Comfort Arewa and Emmanuel Anderson to win the competition. Interestingly, the 18 year-old graduate of Sound Engineering from SAE Institute, Cape Town, South Africa, is the youngest winner of the competition since inception. Fondly called Jeff by fans and other contestants, Akor is the youngest winner of the most popular talent hunt show in West Africa.

As promised, Jeffery Akor, whose picture will be displayed on the wall of fame with other alumni of the academy such as, He joined the league of past MTN Project Fame Winners including Iyanya, iMike, Olawale, Monica, Chidinma and Geoffrey, walked away with N5 million, brand new SUV and a multi-million naira recording contract.

Meanwhile, Awa-Agwu, Anderson and Tosanwumi placed first, second and third runners up respectively. Awa-Agwu went home with N3 million and brand new saloon car, Anderson got N2 million naira and a saloon car, while Tosanwumi went home with N2 million.
The shows recorded several success stories, ranging from the Anderson comeback, the Michael Bolton endorsement and the mutually inclusive wright of fans in the Diaspora to participate in the vote.

Jeff did a remix of Kiss with Yemi Alade, Awa-Awgu paired Chidinma in Kedike, while the tall and handsome Anderson shared stage with Praiz, as they did the remix of Rich and Famous, the energetic Deinde was not left out in the collabo, as he was humbly promoted by the Kukere maestro himself, Iyanya, in the remix of Oreo, Arewa brought the beautiful memory of Gangan Aso, as she performed the hit song with 9ice, and bringing the closing gala to a remarkable end, Tosanwumi did a remix of Motherland with Sound Sultan.

Indeed, MTN Project Fame West Africa has done it again by touching the life of these young music enthusiasts, most especially in making their dream come true by giving them a platform to showcase their talent and creativity to Africa and the rest of the world.
