Former Delta Attorney General appointed member of body of benchers

Former Delta State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Charles Ajuyah (SAN) has been appointed as a member of the Body of Benchers by the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA).

Former Delta State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Charles Ajuyah (SAN) has been appointed as a member of the Body of Benchers by the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA).

A letter by the President of the NBA, Mr Augustine Alegeh (SAN) and dated June 25 explained that Ajuyah’s appointment into the Body of Benchers, the top most echelon of the legal profession in Nigeria took effect from June 25, 2015.

Alegeh described the elevation of the former Attorney General as well-deserved and expressed confidence that he would be a good ambassador of the Bar.

He wrote: “We trust that you will strive to represent the best interests of the Nigerian Bar Association and contribute to the attainment of the highest standards of the Legal Profession in Nigeria.”

The Body of Benchers, is the Body of legal practitioners of the highest distinction saddled with the primary responsibility of the formal call to Bar of persons seeking to become legal practitioners in Nigeria.

The Body makes regulations towards upholding the core values of the legal profession and every legal practitioner, whose name is on the roll in Nigeria is subject to the authority of the Body of Benchers.
