Court orders police to stay away from firm

A Federal high court, Lagos has granted a retraining order against the Inspector General of Police (IGP) from disrupting the operations of a firm, Centre Point Network Limited.

Justice Hadizat Shagari made the order following to a motion argued by the plaintiffs counsel, Mr. Babajide Koku (SAN).The judge ruled: “An order of interim injunction is hereby made restraining the respondents from interfering or taking over the affairs of Centre Point Network Limited Located in No 1, Tigris Close and Plot 521 or No 10 Usman street Maitama, Abuja.”

Respondents in this case apart from the IGP are, Emeka offor and the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC).The plaintiff in its motion said that on December 21, 2017, the diseased wife of 2nd defendant, Joy Offor who owns Centre Point Network Limited was buried after a sudden death.

Before her death, she had two children for Emeka Offor. The plaintiff alleged that after the burial, the husband has been using the agent of the Nigerian Police to disrupt the operations of the applicants business.

They also contended in their motion on notice that Emeka Offor is not a director in the company but that on December 24, 2017, which is three days after the burial of his late wife he indicated his interest to sell properties belonging to the company through the help of Police. 

The plaintiff urged the court to grant a protective order in the interest of justice so that the directors of the company will be able to work without fear and anxiety, which the 1st and 2nd defendants have orchestrated.

Justice Shagari later adjourned the matter to January 19 and ordered all the respondents to restrain themselves from tampering or interfering with the properties and operations of the applicant’s business.
