JusticeA complainant, Ibrahim Abdullahi of Karu, Abuja on Friday showed mercy to one Ibrahim Abdullahi, who had stolen his Nokia phone valued at N22,500 when the case came up before a Grade 1 Area Court in Karu.

The Police Prosecutor, Mr Silas Nanpan, told the court that the complainant who was present in court had forgiven the accused after the handset had been recovered from him.

Nanpan, subsequently, applied for withdrawal of the First Information Report under Section 130 of the Criminal Procedure Code.

The Judge, Hassan Ishaq, granted the application of the Prosecutor and discharged the accused.

However, before discharging the accused, Ishaq advised the accused to be of good behaviour.

The complainant had reported the theft at the Nyanyan Police Station on July 30.

The complainant said the accused stole his phone where he works at NNPC filling station at Nyanya while he was charging it.

The offence of theft contravenes Section 287 of the Penal Code.
