To shore up their capacity, the Lagos State Technical and Vocational Board (LASTVEB) in partnership with Elizade Motors Nigeria Limited have trained technical teachers in the state through a Teachers Industrial Works Experience Scheme (TIWES).

The automobile training was designed to acquaint the teachers with latest trends in technical education.

Addressing the media at a briefing in Lagos, the Executive Secretary of LASTVEB, Engineer Olawumi Gasper, stated the initiative came out of the need to improve skills, competences and keep teachers abreast of recent developments in technology.

According to him, “The teachers industrial work experience was designed to enable our instructors and teachers interact on best practices in the industry, and the scheme has been a continuous process. Technical education is the way out and an education system that allows one to earn a living while still learning, and it can assist our youths.”

The leader the of teachers, Mr. Oke Benjamin Oludele, highlighted some of the experiences gained to include electrical wiring diagram and diagnosing techniques involving the P-Code, C-Code, B-Code and U-Code; diagnosing software applications, global techstream system / computer interface system, and other universal diagnosing tools; carrying out of active test (AT), Customising vehicle utility from factory default to owners demands and Use of Data List and Workshop Manual with respect to Vehicle Specification etc.

Head, After Sales of partnering firm, Pastor Emmanuel Sayo Oluwaniyi, enjoined the participating teachers to make good use of the opportunity. He said as part of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Elizade would continue to support and cooperate in programmes that promote education and manpower development in Nigeria.
