Lagos emerges best in 2018 pilgrims’ management

The Lagos State pilgrims in the last hajj have bagged the Most Disciplined Award just as the State Muslim Pilgrims board took the second best award in hajj management.

The National Hajj Commission (NAHCON) announced the award in Makkah, Saudi Arabia during a post-Arafat stakeholders’ meeting.

NAHCON official, Adebayo Yusuf received the second best award on behalf of the state while Alhaji Mubaraq of NAHCON got the Most Disciplined Award.

The Commission also conferred awards on Governors Bindow Jibrilla of Adamawa and Umar Tanko Al Makura of Nasarawa state as the first and second Most Supportive State Governor respectively during the 2018 hajj operations.

Also, in the tour operator´s category, Comerel Travels and Tour, Al Hujaj Travels and Oasis Travels and Tours bagged the first, second and third best hajj and umrah travels and tour operators in Nigeria respectively.

The Chairman of the Commission, Barrister Abdullah Muktar Muhammad said the 2018 awards would be announced in Makkah during 2019 hajj exercise.

Commissioner for Home Affairs Lagos State Amir ul Hajj, Dr. Abdul Hakeem Abdul Lateef expressed joy over the success of the hajj exercise and the safety of all the pilgrims throughout the operation.

“I am particularly grateful to Allah for giving the officials and the pilgrims the grace to cooperate with one another for the success of this year Hajj operation”, he said.

He also commended the good manner in which the pilgrims conducted themselves, adding that the officials also heeded the advice of the Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode to treat pilgrims with utmost respect.

Abdul Lateef noted that this is the first time Lagos pilgrims will spend less than 30 days in the Holy land for Hajj exercise.

”It is a wonderful development that Lagos pilgrims on the first flight have spent 28th day for this holy pilgrimage.

We are happy and hope it will continue”, he said.
