Following the reported cases of dreaded Lassa fever disease in neighbouring states, Imo State government has issued a warning statement to its citizens and residents in the 27 local councils, to be mindful of their daily activities and travels.

In a statement signed and issued by the Commissioner for Health and Social Welfare, Mrs. Ngozi Njoku at the weekend in Owerri, the state government said it was yet to record any such case since the refreshed cases in some states in the country, cautioning travellers in particular, to be mindful of their movements and health behaviours.

The statement also disclosed that the state government was strengthening its Epidemiology Department to ensure strict compliance to health standards.

The commissioner said the state government would continue to be careful in handling the health affairs of Imo citizens and residents.
