Human rights day 2015: Lagos lawyers hold summit tomorrow

The Nigerian Bar Association, Lagos Branch Human Rights Committee will tomorrow at the Foyer of Lagos High Court, Igbosere, Lagos hold a Human Rights Summit to commemorate this year’s Human Rights Day and the International Anti-Corruption Day by 1 pm.

The Nigerian Bar Association, Lagos Branch Human Rights Committee will tomorrow at the Foyer of Lagos High Court, Igbosere, Lagos hold a Human Rights Summit to commemorate this year’s Human Rights Day and the International Anti-Corruption Day by 1 pm.

Renowned professor of Jurisprudence and International Law, Prof. Akin Oyebode will deliver the Keynote Address. His paper which will dwell on the theme of the summit, “Towards combating corruption and the protection of human rights,” will be a tour de force on the intersection between corruption and human rights vis-a-vis the Judiciary, the Bar, Prosecutors and other stakeholders in the justice sector.

While former Lagos State Attorney-General & Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Supo Shasore, SAN is expected to chair the summit, leading lights of the Nigerian Bar and Bench including Mr. Femi Falana, SAN and Justice Christopher Balogun have confirmed participation as members of the distinguished panel of discussants. Others in the panel are the top apparatchik in the Police, EFCC and international organizations. The Lagos State Chief Judge, Justice Olufunmilayo Atilade is the Special Guest of Honour while the Inspector-General of Police, Solomon Arase is the Guest of Honour.
