World Heart Day: Cardiology centre offers free screening and consultations
Every three minutes, someone dies and about 17.3 million lives are lost annually owing to heart or circulatory disease. It is against this backdrop that the World Heart Federation (WHF) in 2000 founded the World Heart Day, as part of an international campaign to spread awareness about heart disease and stroke prevention.
The day is celebrated every September 29 with a selected theme, and the aim is to inform people globally to take care of their heart and improve health by making lifestyle changes.
As part of activities for this year’s celebration, leading cardiology and Nigeria’s only independent cardiac centre, The Grays Cardiology Centre on Friday, provided free BP checkups, X-rays, glaucoma screening, consultations and more for guests and participants as part of the centre’s activities for this year’s celebration.
The screening and consultations, which held at The Grays Cardiac Centre, Ladipo Bateye, off Adekunle Fajuyi Way, GRA, Ikeja, Lagos, featured a special health talk with Dr. Soe Moe Aung, a Consultant Interventional Cardiologist, with focus on the effects of blood pressure on body organs.
