To mark the Mother and New Born Child Health Week (MNCHW), Delta State government has directed all its primary health care centres to provide free health services to mothers and children five years and below.

The chairman, Delta State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr. Mrs. Isiome Okobah, who gave the directive in Asaba, said the weeklong activity would be flagged-off on Thursday, December 15, 2017, at the Arcade, Asaba, by wife of the governor, Dame Edith Okowa.

Okobah explained that during the week, all primary healthcare centres would provide free antenatal and maternal services, immunisation, free folic acid, ABD iron tablets, etc.

She explained that the activities would focus on the health of mothers and children, with a view to reducing maternal and child mortality rate.

Okobah said henceforth government would insist on global best practices in the implementation of health programmes in order to achieve affordable, quality and efficient healthcare delivery for Delta people.
