Groups validate 5-year anti-corruption strategy action plan documen

Representatives of some Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) as well as the media have validated a five-year anti-corruption strategy action plan document.

Representatives of some Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) as well as the media have validated a five-year anti-corruption strategy action plan document.

The validated document is to be presented to the Federal Government through the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami.

This happened in a two-day brain storming stakeholders’ forum held between March 26th and 27th in Abuja, to scrutinize and validate the 25-page five-year action plan (2017-2021).

The event was jointly organized by the office of the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, the British Council, the European Union (EU) and the consultants to the organizers, the Rule of Law and Anti-Corruption (RoLAC).

The British Council, the EU and RoLAC were represented by their officials, Dr. Adaeze Chidi-Igbokwe (Consultant), Emma Uche and Pwanakei Dala.
The acting Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Dr. Musa Usman Abubakar was represented by the Director of Planning, Research and Review of the commission, Bala Mohammed.

Malami, represented by the chairman, Technical Committee on the Implementation of the National Anti- Corruption Strategy (NACS), Hajia Ladidi B. Mohammed, in his opening address, said his ministry is committed to combating and preventing corruption as well as public engagement, campaign for ethical re-orientation, enforcement and sanctions and recovery, and management of proceeds of crime.

ICPC ‘s acting chairman said the commission was in alignment with the effort of the NACS and determined to deliver within the mandate of the commission in line with the Act and the National Strategic plan on fighting corruption.

In their contributions, Chidi-Igbokwe, Uche and Dala, said every hand must be on deck to eradicate corruption in the country, regretting that it was becoming endemic. They urged every Nigerian to participate in fighting corruption.
