The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Chief Audu Ogbeh has reiterated its commitment to support Federal Institute of Industrial Research Oshodi (FIIRO) on school feeding programme in the country.

Addressing stakeholders at his working visit to the institute in Lagos, he said his ministry would be patronizing fiiro’s products for the support of the school feeding programme especially for the northeastern part of the country.

According to him, thousands of parents lack the ability to feed their wards and this has not only resulted to malnourishment, but also, poor academic performance.

It is good the country is presently broke, he said as it would greatly enhance opportunities to look inwardly into our available resources to meet local needs.

He continued, “We are held hostage in our country and that is why we are poor. We rely so much on other people to do our work and carry out our duties. There is nothing done in China that cannot be done in Nigeria.”

“We cannot run our country where the young and older ones still fall back on their parents for petty things like recharge cards, whereas we can struggle and work hard ourselves”, he added.

Meanwhile, the Director-General, FIIRO, Dr. Gloria Elemo has said that research and development, science and technology is the only solution to unemployment as it will move the country from its present state to an economy of hope.
