‘Government, private sector must collaborate to grow sector’ 

For the country to achieve its goal of growing the sector there must be a synergy between government at all levels and the private sector, National President of St. Peter Seminary Old Students Association, Opkala, Imo State, Charles Oguibe, has said.

Oguibe said the collaboration must be taken seriously if a stronger education system dream must be achieved.

Oguibe, who spoke at the thanksgiving mass for the new national executives of the association maintained that making the task of building the sector is a collective one.

“We must not allow government alone to do everything in our educational institutions; we have a responsibility to contribute to the growth of our alma mater.

But for the strong formation I had early in life, I would not have been where I am today.  

If Nigerians could cultivate the habit of given back to their alma mater, some little challenges that metamorphose to bigger problems in institutions of learning would be addressed.

“Government is faced with numerous challenges aside tackling problems facing the education sector, if we must have a better education system that will produce good citizens, we must help to strengthen our institutions,” Oguibe added.  

In his homily, the Parish Priest, Rev father Gilbert Alaribe, congratulated the old students for their commitment and enjoined them not to relent.
