Unlimited showers of encomium enveloped the air at the University of Lagos Auditorium venue of the centenary celebration as former and current students of the Islamic institute Arabic and Islamic education assembled from all walks of life to honour the memory of the renowned Islamic scholar and philosopher.

“This is a day to reflect on the good deeds of our late father and scholar. As I always say, contributions shouldn’t just be by magnitude, but by what we can give to build our community, no matter how small.“Sheik Adam served humanity by investing in human capital and till today, his products are everywhere living his dream. Education is a weapon for advancement and we must emphasise this wherever we find ourselves.”

The Sultan said the late scholar was a symbol of unity across both the geographical space and religious diversity, saying the promotion of Islam through quality teachings and presentations of the late scholar helped the country in no small measure.Abubakar canvassed the use of indigenous languages in the teaching and learning in schools.

He said the war against corruption cannot be successfully fought without imbibing the fear of God in children, noting that such was the position of the late scholar who was being celebrated, and should be encouraged in all homes.

The retired President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Ayo Salami, preached peace and unity among Muslims across the country and advised against any divisive positions, especially on the issue of moon sighting during the month of fasting.
