The Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at, Nigeria has laid the foundation of one of the centenary mosques to be built to mark the centenary anniversary of the Islamic organization in Nigeria.

Named Nana mosque in Offa, Kwara State, Alhaji Abdul Ganiy Omokanye, an engineer and native of Offa, who resides in Canada is bankrolling the building of the mosque in memory of his late mother. Upon completion, it will be donated to the jama’at for the 100 years celebration in 2016.

Deputy Head (Special Duty), Alhaji Hammed Al Hassan, on behalf of the Amir, Dr. Mashuud Fasola thanked the donor of the mosque and urged other Muslims to build a house for Allah for greater reward in life and the thereafter.

As part of activities lined up for the anniversary celebration, the Amir of Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at in Nigeria, early in the year, sought the support of the members in giving facelift to the Jama’at mosques across the country. Many of these mosques have remained work-in-progress for a long time, while  there has been urgent and compelling need to build new ones to step up tabligh activities, and as part of effort for physical expansion and development of the Jama’at in Nigeria.

Accordingly, a National Mosque Building Trust Fund Committee was set up to mobilize funds and identify areas for these laudable projects across Nigeria.  Members of the Committee include: Dr Y.A. Habeeb, Naib Amir North (Chairman); Alhaji M.B. Odukoya, Sadr Majils Ansarullah (Vice Chairman); Alhaji Abdul Azeez Alatoye, Naib Amir Southwest; Abdul Ganiy Enahoro, Naib Amir Eastern Region; Builder Bashir Towolawi – Secretary to the Committee; Alhaji Muffadil Bankole – Chairman of the Jalsa Planning Committee; Qasim Akinreti, Secretary Publications; Engineer Adeoye, Secretary Audio-Visual; Alhaji Atanda, former Circuit President Abuja; Alhaji  A.G. Idris, National Financial Secretary; Dr. Samiullah Tahir, Ahmadiyya Hospital, Apapa; Alhaji Tajudeen Onabanjo from Port Harcourt.

The committee has designed models of mosque for the rural, semi-urban and urban areas   across the country.
