2015 Hajj: Ogun concludes inoculation, medical screening

• Assures pilgrims of safe, smooth Hajj operations 

 

The exercise, held at the Board’s Secretariat in Abeokuta, between July 22 and 28, 2015, was part of efforts aimed at ensuring a safe and smooth hajj operations in the state.

The Chairman of the Board, Dr. Ishaq Yusuf said, the essence of the exercise was to ascertain the health status of the intending pilgrims and the prerequisite Islamic knowledge and capacity to perform hajj.

He noted that the medical screening would avail the board to determine the state of health of pilgrims in offering necessary medical attention to them in Saudi Arabia.

Yusuf said the inoculation covered giving of polio and malaria vaccines and other medical supports within the period the screening lasted.

While calling on the pilgrims to be good ambassador of the state, known to be the best in the last four years in the country, he advised that adhering strictly to the laid down rules by the board officials would go a long way in assisting them to perform a hitch-free hajj exercise.

The Executive Secretary of the Board, Alhaji Sefiu Rasheed said the information gathered during this exercise would guide the board in offering necessary medical attention to the pilgrims in Saudi Arabia. He noted that the exercise is an essential aspect of the Hajj operations.

Meanwhile, the participants commended the state government’s effort. Mr. Fadahunsi Ishola Bamidele from Ifo Local Government Area said the exercise gave them a lot of relief and also saved them the stress of moving up and down from different medical clinics for the required test for hajj.

Also speaking at the screening, Mrs. Agboola Nimotallahi from Ipokia Local Government Area, called on the state government to continue its magnanimity, in terms of given supports to the pilgrims both within and outside the country. She said officials of the board gave them adequate attention and guidance during the screening exercise.
