Foundation donates to Apapa NOUN Centre
THE Director of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Apapa special study centre, Dr Stephen Aiyepekun has commended a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), Damian UM Azubuike Foundation for donating two modern notice boards to the centre.
The director gave the commendation at the Special Study Centre in Apapa.
According to him, the National President of the Foundation, Mr. Nnamdi Azubuike, who is also a student of the school, has shown his committment to the upliftment of the University, particularly the study centre.
He called on other NGOs and well-meaning individuals to look round the centre and see the areas where they can make positive impact.
Responding, Azubuike said it is the little contribution, which his Foundation could offer in order to add to the beauty of the learning environment.
He said the vision is to stop indiscrimate posting of notices in the Centre.
He explained that the boards were installed on behalf of Society of Environmental and Health Sciences Students (SEHSS) of the centre who, during their 2015 election, requested the Foundation to sponsor it to enable them secure their information dissemination system. He added that SEHSS also requested for laboratory equipment from the Foundation.
“The Damian Azubuike UM Foundation decided to take the notice board while the fund-raising for the laboratory equipment will take place on December 3, 2015 at the NNS Quorra, Apapa,” he stated.
The Principal officer, registrar of the Centre, Dr. O. S. Odusanya and the Chief student’s counsellor, Dr. D.M Aderigbigbe extolled the virtues of the national president of the Foundation and praised his efforts in contributing to the upliftment of the Study Centre.
Odusanya urged the Foundation to ensure that they control the kind of information that would be disseminated through the notice boards, so that unscrupulous elements would not take advantage of the board to spread falsehood in the Centre.
