Former U.S President hosts NASFAT Missioner

Chief Missioner of Nasrul-Lahi-Fathi society, (NASFAT), Imam Abdul Azeez Onike has been invited by the former United States (US) President Jimmy Carter, to participate in the Carter Center Human Rights Forum titled; Restoring Faith In Freedom, barely three months after addressing the UN special session on the rights of Women,

Carter will also play host to human rights activists from 30 countries, women peacemakers working prevent violent conflict, International NGOs, religious leaders resisting repressive politics, influential analysts, authors and selected government and UN policy makers

This year’s forum will provide a platform for in-depth consultations on the most pressing actions that must be taken by governments, civil society, inter governmental bodies and others to reverse the tide of setbacks for human rights throughout the world.

The forum participants will focus on three main themes; restoring trust and faith in democratic systems, explaining aspects of economic rights related to land rights, corporate and government accountability for environmental impact, an adequate standard of living and accountability for budget priorities as well as reinforcing the Frontline of human rights and peace

Also 2018 marks the 70th anniversary of Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) and the 20th Anniversary of the UN Declaration of Human Rights Defenders.

The Forum will apparently provide a forum to honour the achievements made so far as well as a timely opportunity for a reflection and rededication to human rights and peace.

The former United States President Jimmy Carter is scheduled to hold in Atlanta, United States from 21st to 24th July 2018 would chair the Forum.
