Toyota has said it will introduce a sportier line of hybrids to upturn sales. The vehicles are expected to be sold along with its fuel-saving models.Speaking at the Frankfurt Motor Show in Germany, Chief Executive Officer, Toyota Europe, Johan van Zyl, disclosed that the vehicles would provide efficiency and full economy as well as dynamic driving character.

“One will provide the traditional benefits of efficiency and fuel economy, like in the current offer. The second will build on this, adding more power and a more dynamic driving character,” Van Zyl said.

Toyota is yet to provide detail on the vehicles. It said more details would be available by next year. The organisation has showcased the C-HR Hy-Power, and most analysts reasoned that the new vehicles may take the form of the C-HR Hy-Power.

van Zyl said customer feedback forced the company to introduce the sportier variants.
Toyota’s first example of where it’s headed with the line is that Toyota will need to simplify its engine range, as it adds more hybrid variants, said the automaker.

Toyota’s European Development Chief, Gerald Killmann, said: “The Auris currently has two gasoline engines, two diesels and one hybrid, but the hybrid version accounts for 60 percent of sales. Do we need all these engines or can we replace some of them with a second hybrid power train?”
