Anchor varsity admits 117 students, VC pledges peaceful atmosphere

Vice chancellor, Anchor University (AU), Prof Joseph Afolayan has assured that despite the storms facing qualitative education in the country, there is an assurance of peace.
 
Prof Afolayan in his opening remarks at the 2017-2018 matriculation ceremony of new students into various academic disciplines in the institution said the faith-based university is set to reposition the sector for better results.He said, “There are many kinds of storms confronting our educational system as a nation and the world over. There are moral storms; there are storms affecting the very quality of our education; slamming damning questions on the integrity of our professionals, technocrats and the general products of institutions across the globe; denying the world of good leadership. The number is almost countless. Nonetheless, there is a sure Anchor that is certain to calm the
fiercest of storms.”
 
He pointed out that part of the university’s vision is to raise an invincible generation of young and courageous leaders who will defend the truth and stand for the right no matter what comes their way.

The vice chancellor also enjoined the students to strive for academic excellence that would stand them out them in the labour market.“Anchor University wants to stand tall to defend the degrees that will be awarded here because we will not sell them, they must be earned. This is a promise we are determined to take very seriously.
   
“Consequently, every student who is considered unwilling to align and unprepared to be helped will be shown the exit door in due course. My prayer is that none of you will fall out on the way in Jesus name.”He expressed delight at the success of the students who participated in the professional examination conducted by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) .
 
“I am happy that some of our students exhibited excellent performances. “In the last ICAN/ATS examinations, we recorded 95 percent success though it was our first attempt, for us, great future is non-negotiable for our students.  ” Afolayan said.
