COSON honours Emeka Mba with copyright meda
The Director General, National Broadcasting Commission, Mr. Emeka Mba, will on Wednesday, May 20, 2015, in Lagos, be decorated with the Copyright Medal of Honour.
The decoration will take place at the 5th Anniversary Celebration of the approval of Copyright Society of Nigeria (COSON), the nation’s sole collective management organisation for musical works and sound recordings.
According to the Chairman of COSON, Mr. Tony Okoroji, Mba was unanimously chosen by the organisation’s Board because of the historic role played by him and the Commission in resolving the over four decades of raging dispute between the music and broadcasting industries in the payment of music copyright royalties.
The Copyright Medal of Honour is the highest recognition of the music industry for any individual in acknowledgement of that person’s significant contribution to the promotion and defence of the rights of creative people in Nigeria.
Also to be honoured on the day are Miliki King, Evangelist (Dr) Ebenezer Obey Fabiyi, multiple music award winner, 2 Face Idibia, and Sasakosa exponent, Prof (Sir) Victor Uwaifo.
The presentation to Mba would be witnessed by top names in the music, movies and broadcasting industries across Nigeria at the Banquet Hall of Lagos Airport Hotel, Ikeja, beginning at 3pm prompt.
